The SRS steel section editing system is designed for creating new and editing existing section databases of rolled and welded profiles, as well as steels and alloys used in their production.

SRS is informationally linked to the LIRA-FEM analysis and design systems.

The section databases are regularly expanded and updated in accordance with current standards; however, if needed, the user can always add the required section independently.

Convenient Section Filters

The section editor implements filters with grouping by standards (EN, DSTU, ISO, GOST, and others).

After applying the filter, only the sections from the selected groups are displayed in the lists for assigning metal section parameters and in the section list of the "Editable Section" system. This helps to navigate the profile and steel libraries faster and select the required sections according to the design region.

Creating Your Own Sections

RS is an open system: the user is provided with tools for creating new sections and editing existing ones, meaning it is possible to add absolutely any section independently.

The user can create:

  • I-beam;
  • channel;
  • equal-leg and unequal-leg angle;
  • plate;
  • pipe, square and rectangular pipe;
  • T-section;
  • C-shaped section;
  • square, circle;
  • wire rope;
  • Z-shaped section;
  • channel-shaped section;
  • arbitrary section;
  • steel;
  • aluminum alloy.

For this purpose, the calculation of geometric section characteristics has been implemented: area, moments of inertia, shear moments, static moments, coordinates of the torsion center and shear center, sectorial moment of inertia, and other characteristics, including those required to account for the section warping effect. The calculation is performed both analytically and numerically (using FEM), with the ability to change the section triangulation step.

Autocompletion

To cover the full diversity of possible section shapes offered by manufacturers, it is possible to connect custom section types to the profile section databases and use such sections in the structural design of sections/elements.
